INTENSIVE 2 DAY NATURAL SOIL FERTILITY MANAGEMENT
PLANT & ANIMAL HEALTH, DISEASE & PEST SUPPRESSION USING
NATURAL INPUTS, COMMERCIAL INOCULUMS, MICROBIAL FERTILITY, BIOSTIMULATION & RESTORATIVE APPROACHES
This course is aimed at the 2 Day Intensive Startup Commercial Garlic Growers course, however is suitable for any semi-commercial or commercial grower of annual or perennial produce, crops and pasture managers.
It is a combination of many of the other individual courses offered to manage soil minerals, humus and microbial activity to optimal levels that ensure plant health, disease and pest suppression through premium nutrient, enzymes and hormones produced by a beneficial, biologically active and rich soil. However, this course provides a professional approach and balance between commercial products and on-farm produced inputs that allows a commercial producer to operate cost and time efficiently, and within farm-labour’s skill base.
Premium growing environments support the natural plant and animals immune system to be more resistant to pests and disease and are actively suppressing and recycling soil disease and pests in a continuous cleaning process through the active beneficial soil food web.
DAY 1 Topics Include:
- How healthy soil functions – minerals, humus and microbes
- What these microbes produce and why they are so important to soil / plant health
- Basic soil mineral profiles – importance of getting the basics right
- A baseline of healthy microbial biomass & diversity by different food groups
- Soil, Water, Tissue & Microbial Tests – for baseline, correction & diagnostics
- Natural mineral corrective inputs …. How much & how often
- Solid versus liquid mineral management approaches – what works and best for microbes
- Plant Health Issues – a Diagnostics approach to determining mineral, pest, disease or other
- Natural & Biological Pest & Disease Control – products and approaches
DAY 2 Topics & Practicals Include:
- Looking at Soil, Compost & Liquid Extracts under the microscope – seeing the difference
- Practical products and approaches to biostimulate in situ microbial populations
- Condensed practical – breeding aerobic, extracting & applying through fertigation
- Condensed practical – breeding facultative anaerobes, extracting & fertigation application
- What you can and cannot add to microbial fertigation inputs (ie don’t kill them)
- Using a BRIX meter and interpreting the results
- Revision period – Q&A – open session
