$7.50 incl. GST
The Glen Large is the commercial cultivar of subtropical garlic commonly grown and as with lovely sweet true garlic flavours and just a touch of heat. Glen Large is one of the two sweeter Subtropical garlic (the other being Souther Glen), however, this cultivar has lovely richer, spicier notes. Very suitable for raw use and gentle sauteeing – but if you want to sautee or use in pasta the Italian subtropicals are better and sharper.
Warm climate, short day garlic suited for growing in warmer regions of Nth NSW and QLD. Grow in GREENHOUSES in the Southern States. These subtropical garlic evolved in Formosa (Taiwan) where it acclimated to shorter warmer Winters and warm to hot Springs requiring only a very short 5.5 – 6.5 month growth cycle (compared to 7-9 months for other garlics). Whilst technically being a softneck that produces up to 3 layers of irregularly shaped cloves it produces a short scape that terminates within the stem, often producing bulbils that bulge through the stem.
