GENERAL SEASON UPDATES
This year we again have experienced the same Antarctic Weather Inversion that created long, cool, overcast and rainy periods and caused a delay in garlic maturing.

Whilst the Subtropicals grown in the greenhouse have experienced only a little delay, all outdoor grown garlic are about 3 weeks behind normal harvesting times and we foresee 1-2 weeks delay in shipping of our orders we would normally start shipping in mid-March.  We will do our best to cure the garlic faster, using heaters, fans and dehumidifiers, and we will keep you updated of delays in this section.

SUBTROPICAL ORDER SHIPPING TARGETS

  • Shipped 2-4th March, due to late harvesting completion, by Express Post.
  • Remaining Subtropical orders will be shipped by 13 March, after the later harvesting bulbs on the orders have been processed.

NON-SUBTROPICAL ORDER SHIPPING TARGETS – REVISED 23/3/26

THREE WEEK DELAY IN SHIPPING CAUSED BY THREE WEEK HARVEST DELAY
We always aim to start shipping Queenland’s Subtropical orders by mid-February and start shipping all remaining orders by mid-March – however, this last season was very unusual and harvested three weeks later than usual.

This has caused delays to finishing and seed grading as the garlic needs to cure for a minimum of 6 weeks for us to identify any storage diseases as part of our seed grading.

We apologise for this delay, and hope you understand that sometimes nature’s timetables don’t always align with our farming and shipping targets.

We are also shipping most of our orders as clove packs instead of bulbs.  Like the rest of Australia, this last season has been challenging and resulted in smaller yields and bulbs and we will be splitting and clove grading to ensure all orders receive plantable clove sizes that have been seed quality checked.

Black garlic and Freeze Dried garlic orders can only be started and then posted after the curing has completed as well.

Shipping of all non-Subtropical orders will take three to four weeks – and with this very warm Autumn, you should be aiming to plant your garlic between mid-April and mid-May.

  • 27 Feb – 22 Mar – FINISHED AND SEED GRADED Turbans, Artichokes, Creoles, Silverskin, Glazed Purple Stripes, Porcelains and Silverskins
  • 24 -26 Feb – SHIPPED orders to Queensland and Northern NSW that contained only Subtropicals.  All other orders need to wait until the garlic groups have cured and can be finished and seed graded.
  • 23 Feb – HARVESTED last of the late season garlics – Standard Purple Stripes and Marbled Purple Stripes.

FINAL STOCK TAKE SCHEDULED FOR 6 APRIL.  Online stock inventory will be updated 7th April releasing the final bulbs for the 2024 season.

We have now shipped all Queensland orders and have started shipping all advanced orders for Southern States.

Shipping targets are:

This season has been an unusual one – with all garlic taking more than 6 weeks to germinate and a much warmer Winter and resulting in a slightly smaller bulb.  Our garlic is also harvesting about 3-4 weeks earlier than usual. However- we will maintain our seed quality standards and look forward to bringing you the very best this season has produced.

  • 18 Feb – ALL Queensland and Subtropical orders have now been shipped – with exception on any Subtropical order that contains late harvesting garlics – which will be shipped by end of March.

  • 24-30 Jan – Finished harvesting all Rocamboles, Marbled Purple Stripes and Standard Purple Stripes.  Highest UV season in my 12 years in Tasmania – with 12+ UV index on most days reaching peak at 11:30am and staying till 6:00pm.  Very hard harvesting year.
